The error msg is in the subject, it's "createmailbox: Permission
denied".

I'm sure that this is right. I'm on a FreeBSD 4.5 and I'm using
postfix. When install cyrus-imapd under FreeBSD it got the user cyrus
and the group cyrus installed. So the /var/imap... permissions are
cyrus.cyrus and 755.
I'm using the O'Reilly "Managing IMAP" Book and the stuff found in the
internet on the cyrus page an some others as documentation. The
problem is, that there are some differences between these docs.
Do you know a good onw?

Thanks,
