Oh, the Oreilly's IMAP book. I have read the book but not the examples.
Did the example code start like

yes there are some commands also written in perl, but using IMAP::Admin
instead of Cyrus::*, Cyrus::* was not available at the time these
scripts were written, but they still work with 2.0.13
