This may be a bug in 5.0 (like I said I'm using 5.5).

Last thing to try that I can think of would be to 
make sure you have the latest folder list from the
server (which it sounds like you have), then after 
clicking "Go To", if you right mouse click on the
folder itself you might see a section where it says
"show" or "hide", one of them will be disabled.

If show is disabled, and hide is enabled that means 
OE believes the folder is visible and you should try
quitting OE and reloading, if show is enabled and 
hide is disabled, then OE believes that the folder
should not be shown.  At that point you should click
on "show" make sure that it took by right mouse
clicking again, and assuming it seems to tell you that
it is visible, restart OE.  You might even want to
try a folder list refresh just to see if it keeps 
the visibility flag set properly through that.

Beyond that, I can't say anything more.
