According to lsmod ppdev is installed:
lsmod |grep ppdev
ppdev 10116 2
parport 36936 3 ppdev,lp,parport_pc
I don't understand what you mean by 'unless printer is using network
i/o'. There is a network installed and it is marked as:
HP JetDirect Configuration
Status: I/O card ready
When I try to connect to the IP under JetDirect Configuration Menu
I get the error:
An error occurred while loading http://144.45.155.161:
Could not connect to host 144.45.155.161.
Running /usr/lib/cups/backend/hp gives:
Direct hp "Unknown" "HP Printer (HPLIP)"
Does the embedded web server have anything to do with the JetDirect process?
