Hi,

I'm facing a strange problem with the last hplip version available for
Ubuntu Feisty. I have tested both in a 32 bits feisty and 64bits.

I have a HP PSC 950 printer but it is not being recognized by hplip,
though cups is being able to print using the hplip printer.

The problem is that cups is identifiyng my printer as a PSC 920 (with
the uri HP PSC 920 USB MY2A9E22JGWP) and not as a PSC 950. Cups is able
to use the printer and indeed it automagically identifies it as a 950,
though the usb identification is of a 920, and recommends the use of the
950 hpijs ppd file, so I can use it.

I haven't found this 920 identifier in the supported devices list
neither in the unsupported one in the hplip site.

In internet I have found that both devices have very similar usb ids:

03f0:1e11 HP PSC 950
03f0:1f11 HP PSC 920

Nor hp-toolbox, nor hp-setup ara identifying the printer as a supported
one, though I'm using it with cups using the 950 hplip driver.

hp-toolbox sees the device, I suppose that is because cups has it
configured, but marks it as a non supported device.

hp-setup simply doesn't see the device:

error: No devices found. Please make sure your printer is properly
connected and powered-on.

In hp-setup I can manually find it through the usb bus id and usb device
id, and then hp-setup finds it and recommends the same 950 ppd file as
cups. Then it adds the printer but outputs an error when sending the
test page:

error: Printer Error.Printer is busy, offline, or in an error state.
Please check the device and try again.

Same problems trying to configure the scanner.

Please, what can I do to fix this?

I'm attaching some infos (lsusb, /proc/bus/usb/devices). I tried also to
attach the output of hp-check but it is ending with a "RuntimeError:
maximum recursion depth exceeded".

Thx in advance.

lsusb output:
