On a new install of Mandriva 2007, I had trouble
printing to a networked LaserJet 1320n. When I
would print, the Ready light would flash a bit, but
then the Attention light would come on and nothing
would print. Hitting the Go button would cause the
print job to print fine. I have no problem printing
from two other MDV2006 machines, nor from a MDV2006
installed on the same machine.
I finally found that by selecting "Tray 2" rather
than "Tray 1" I could get printing to work (actually
found that initial install once had "Default" and
that worked). So it is like the mapping of trays
is reversed. This printer does not have any optional
trays, however. So have to select "Tray 2".
So now when you use CUPS to Set Printer Options
you get this note:
Error: The following options are conflicting:
* Tray 2
* Media Source
Since Tray 2 is listed as not installed, but the
Media Source is given as Tray 2. However, this is
the only way it works.
I have compared the ppd files from the non-working
MDV2007 and the working MDV2006 and I can get them
so the only difference is the tray.
Mandriva has one update rpm for CUPS on MDV2007,
which I have installed. Could this be a cups problem?
The strange thing is that I had an x86_64 MDV2007 on
this same machine and I am certain printing was working.
I had not installed any updates, however.

Is there any way to see if the wrong tray info is being
sent to the printer? Or any other way to figure out
what software is to blame?
