Yes, in order to get my 16thC Italian costuming fix (and spread the love) I decided to begin running costuming challenges. The first one started as a means to celebrate the Realm of Venus' ten years online, and was a four month long challenge to create four layers. You can see what was created here: http://renaissanceitaly.net/TempFiles/ItalRenCostumingChallenge.htm This will be run again next year from April to August, so if you're interested keep an eye on the website. The second one was a month-long themed mini challenge which ran in October. The theme for that one was 'Idle Hands' - an item in an Italian Renaissance style that was usually carried or worn on the hand. Some really lovely things were created: http://realmofvenus.renaissanceitaly.net/challenges/IRCMC-Oct2011.htm The next mini-challenge is slated to run in February, but as yet the theme has not been decided. I usually announce challenges via the RoV Facebook page, here: http://www.facebook.com/therealmofvenus but you can also just check the website from time to time.
