The current stable version of GTK+ is 2.6.8. Your version is rather outdated, so it would be highly advisable to upgrade to a more current release before doing any development. The current stable release of Gtkmm is 2.6.3, and this works with GTK+ 2.6. You'll need to upgrade GLib and GTK+ before building it. If you use a decent GNU/Linux distribution, you should already have GTK+ 2.6 and Gtkmm 2.6 available (or at least the 2.4 versions).
