This week I took delivery of a Brother MFC-L8930CDW multi-function
printer, scanner, copier, FAX (who uses that?), etc. to replace a worn
out Dell MFD. All is good except I discovered that printing a PDF
generated by gropdf with an embedded PFA font is not handled by the
printer. The printer substitutes what I assume is the other font the
document uses. From what I can find, it appears this printer does not
support Post Script directly.

The PFA in question, DS Luthersche Titel (called with the '.fam LF'
request) is locally installed using Peter Schaffter's install-font
script. It is also installed as a True Type font for my user and is
accessible from LibreOffice, et. al.

Using the font in LibreOffice results in proper printing of the font
styled text. This leads me to question how the font is embedded and I
assume the answer will be as a PS font which, apparently, my printer
doesn't understand.

However, the document also includes ITC Avant Garde Gothic Book (called
with the '.fam A' request) which is apparently embedded in a manner that
is recognized by the printer.

I have observed this result with both gropdf of both Groff 1.22.4 and
1.23.0 on Debian 12 and 13 respectively. If needed I can provide a
source file and the resulting PDF.
