PANAJI: Bernard D'Souza, spokeperson of Goa Su-Raj Party has thanked chief
engineer of Electricity Department in changing the quality of electricity
consuption bills furnished tothe consumers.
"Your new computerised bills are attractive, good quality and designed to
meet all the requiremtns a consumer needs. "We appreciate very much the
prompt action taken in this matter,." D'Souza said in a letter addressed to
the chief engineer.

Sir,
For years you department has been issuing pink colour bills to electricity
consumers. The quality of this bill as well as other receipts, you will
agree, is very poor and needs to be imporved. While doing this, the followig
defects existing in the present bill must be considered.
1. The quality of paper is very poor for keeping this bill as records.
2. The details such as the period for which charges are levied as also the
last date for payment and othr essential details such as meter readings are
illegible making the scrutiny of the bills by the consu mer difficult.
3. The cyclostyling, which is outdated mode of printing , is done so badly
that it almost always misses the appropriate columns and printing is carried
out on already printed matter.
4. Information on the reverse of the bill must contain rates, applicable to
each slab of consumption. It must also indicate the load permitted and
minimum charges.
The other Government Departments such as telephone, PWD, PMC etc have
computerised billing and have substantially improved the quality of their
bills. WHY CAN'T THE ELECTRICITY DEPARTMENT FOLLOW SUIT?
Clearly, this is an urgent matter of public interest and it deserves your
immediate attention and appropriate action. If you need any furthr
clarification from us, please fix a date for the meeting and intimate us
well in advance.
Please make available a copy of citizen's charter for Electricity
Department.
