There's nothing wrong, in principle, with having functionality that works on graphical browsers and fails on text-based browsers. (It would be shame to create a problem gratuitously, if fixing the problem is easy.) However, why not have a fall-back search facility for text-based browsers, that works without graphics or Javascript? Even if it looks clunky, it is better than nothing.
