I had some success by interrupting the word with a span tag...   i.e.   
October 16, 2013   became <span style='font-size: 10px'>Oc</span> <span 
style='font-size: 10px'>tober 16, 2013</span>, and it no longer noticed it 
as a date...  It's a kludge, but only thing I've found so far...
