OGC runs a cite test server you can use remotely to test your instance; I
would use that if you would like to quickly run the most current cite tests
now. The data/cite directory provides an example configuration, it requires
a database configured with the correct layers, and the contents of those
layers needs to be reset each time you run the test (as the test performs
some transaction statements).
Our automated tests (which you can see here
http://ares.boundlessgeo.com/jenkins/view/testing-cite/ ) are an example of
us using the CITE Test Engine in a way it was not really designed for.
We would really like to upgrate our automated cite tests to use the
"latest" engine (so we can contribute any engine fixes back to the OGC).
Right now we are using a copy from 2012.
