Wen, app-schema builds on GeoServer simple feature data stores so only supports Oracle types supported for simple features. I am not familiar with Oracle TIMESTAMP support in GeoServer, but a quick Google suggests that this is a known issue with workarounds: http://sourceforge.net/p/geoserver/mailman/message/27142636/
