Well, the old rig is still compiling away.  It's slow but it gets there.  I may put in a larger hard drive.  I got some 250GB drives and it will give me a little more than the 160GB that the current one has.  I dunno.

One more update.  It took a while.  Sometimes I would only boot the old girl up and compile at night.  After getting things configured right, it finished a full update.  I even synced the tree again and did that little update as well.

I just wonder, could I have missed switching to the new profile and when it left the tree, it pointed to nothing until I fixed it??? When I was checking things, it was pointed to a old profile that was no longer in the tree.  If I forgot to switch, that would explain things very well.  The system was getting to where it was hard to update, even before the profile went away.  Having it set to a old profile could explain why updates were getting harder.

Odds are, I forgot to switch to the new profile and that broke things.  Well, it is on the new profile now.  It's also up to date. I'm expecting cold weather here Monday night.  I'll likely update my backups and my old rig again, for the heat.  LOL

Thanks to all for the help.
