Greetings,

in December I first upgraded "media-video/vlc" to version 3.0.22_rc1-r2
and then to version 3.0.22_rc2. Today "emerge --update @world" install-
ed version 3.0.22. Is this really regarded an upgrade?

Could anybody point me to a detailed documentation of the Gentoo package
versioning system to which specifications like ">cat/pkg-vers" refer?

Sincerely,
   Rainer

release candidate usually are pre versions, rc2 usually is newer than rc1, and a version without rc is not a release candidate version, just a "stable" one.
