I've installed 'pfl', which seems to be the only way to do this,
but its replies are wholly negative :

I've tried adding a path, eg '/usr/bin/', but the result is the same.

'kdeinit' + 'startkde' are obsolete & not found via 'which' ;
I try to start KDE via .xinitrc , which is simply :
'exec dbus-launch --exit-with-session startplasma-x11'

Reached end of life. The init command reffered before I suspect is from kde 5 and probably you are now in kde6. Probaby some of your kde packages did not get upgraded. So your strace make references to kde5 and kde6 files.
