As a committer from outside of the original founding company, my experience with the project has been very positive. The community has been open and responsive to contributions, and technical discussions and reviews happen openly on GitHub and the mailing list. I also agree that the points Justin raised around release distribution, incubation disclaimers, third-party branding, and vendor-neutrality clarification are important to address.
