That said, let's take a simple data point: how many proposals over the past few years have been accepted with less than 3 mentors (not considering like you mentioned that mentors do go AWOL from time to time and that over the life of a podling, there may be less than 3 active at a given time)? It's Paul's proposal as Champion so, up to him, but my recommendation would be to find 1 more wiling IPMC $victim..err mentor!
