Hi, I had less time than I thought for testing gdalwarping .vrt files. I have managed to run gdalwarp at good speed against a .vrt file with 68 GeoTIFF images (300 MB each). I do also know that warping .vrt file referring to 200 files in JPEG2000 format with certain settings is very slow but I have not tested different JPEG2000 drivers or parameters yet. It would be very interesting to test the effect of this patch with JPEG2000 images but I am limited to use ready made Windows32 binaries. I keep my test set-up ready if somebody ever has gdalwarp binaries including this patch and JPEG2000 support through JP2KAK driver.
