I wonder if the last sentence would be further improved by simply
saying "not on a @code{typedef} that does not also define the type"
instead of spelling out the kinds of types for a second time.
If you think that would be adequately clear to readers, that would be fine with me. I remember hesitating over that one and deciding to leave it closer to the original text rather than rewrite.
