Yeah, I think the patch is ok.
This patch (https://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-patches/2016-07/msg00017.html) has been
in trunk
for a month with no reported problems.
I'd like to backport it to the GCC 5 and 6 branches.
I've bootstrapped and tested it there on arm-none-linux-gnueabihf.
