However, I think that the debug-compare is a red herring (clearly there's some difference in codegen). note: https://gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc-testresults/2024-May/815459.html which seems to indicate that this does fire on x86_64 linux too - with the right bootstrap conditions.
