The case of a generic interface, rather than a typebound generic, eg: module dollar_mod implicit none private type, public :: dollar_type real :: amount end type dollar_type interface write(formatted) module procedure Write_dollar end interface contains ....as before.... gives a runtime segfault for either explicit or implicit private attribute. I'll need to track down how to give a compile time error for this case. Cheers Paul
