I can confirm that applying that patch on top of: gcc-4.5 (Debian 4.5-20100227-1) 4.5.0 20100227 (experimental) [trunk revision 157109] *does* make my issue go away, and my program compile correctly without requiring the -fno-ipa-cp argument.
