I rechecked: It is indeed Rev. 149722 which caused the problem of this PR (as described in comment 2). (Part of PR 40823 is probably a duplicate of this issue; there is another issue stated in that PR, which is not a regression (i.e. never worked correctly), but has probably a similar cause.) -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=40660
