Stream IO first appeared in 4.2. I'd find it highly unlikely that you'ld find this in 4.1. Now, as I said, this isn't a regression. It is not a candidate for backporting! -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=33985
