I disabled HyperThreading, with no real affect.  About 50% CPU still 
usage by mplayer.  5% if I launch mplayer from twm.

Good idea!  I removed the possibility of xv,sdl,x11 from the 
freevo_conf.py, so now it is JUST xv.  No video!  I'll have to look and 
see if things are TOO clever when you type "freevo -fs".  I'm kinda lost.

I hope someone can give me a clue.
