As to the actual problem at hand, using an 8GB flash drive, which provides drive space, does not do anything to increase the working memory (RAM) that is available in (Free)DOS. Tom's answer was kind of "blunt" because these two things should be obvious to (almost) everyone as two completely independent issues...
