Hi, to give another "large point of view" answer:

If you plan to for example pre-install FreeDOS
on 1000s of computers, everybody who gets such
a computer has to get the FreeDOS source code
roughly just as easily as they got the binary:

You could put the sources on the computers then,
or add a CD to the shipping boxes, or put some
source zip on your homepage so your users can
download it there :-)

However, even if you did not make modifications,
you cannot just say "dear user, you got freedos,
visit freedos.org for the sources or if you need
anything". Because the user would not know which
version exactly you installed, it changes over
time. Also it is more fair in terms of network
bandwidth to put the sources of what you spread
on your own homepage...

In any case, you are very welcome to use FreeDOS
for your project :-) The licensing terms of GPL
are quite friendly. Also note that you can ship
as many closed source apps with DOS as you want,
only our operating system itself is open source.

Regards, Eric
