This is probably true. But please don't get me wrong: I love Nasm. It's just 
that once you're used to drive a Mercedes it becomes somewhat difficult to 
switch to an ... Opel - for no reason.

Please note that Masm is the original, it closely implements the syntax which 
was suggested by the cpu manufacturer - Intel. The Nasm/Fasm/Yasm/Rosasm 
variants implement something which probably works as well, and one can't 
prevent them from calling their syntax assembly because this language isn't 
standardized like C is ... but it's fairly clear that these funny dialects 
contributed a lot to the x86 assembly syntax mess, with Nasm having the major 
responsibility as being the one which arrived first.
