Hi Blair,
as far as I know, this is standard deltree behaivour. and one of the
reasons why I wrote XDEL which is a clone of DR-DOS's.
I heve sent a copy to Johnson, if you wish me I can send you one too :)

I'm having a problem with deltree. I went to delete some files and
directories in the root directory of C:, and used the command deltree
/y gem*. It displayed the following "Warning! Deltree called in root
directory with /Y specified" "filespec to delete: c:\gem*" "Do you
REALLY want to do this??" and then tons of garble that I'm not even
going to try to type. The problem is reproduceable. This does not
happen when /Y is NOT specified. There are 4 files that match GEM*:
Gemapps\, gem.bat, gem.raw, and gemoff\.
