Could you extend a little bit on this?
ATASPI for the ATAPI/ASPI layer and CDROM over it (which means I need to load two drivers, isn't it?), or
ATASPI for ASPI CD-ROM, and CD-ROM for ATAPI or...?
And in this case, CDROM will be the char device and ATASPI a TSR...?
Aitor
Same as SCSI I guess: 1 driver for the interface(s), 1 for the specific device type.
SCSI for example has (on my LSI 53C1010-66 controller): ASPI8XX.SYS (controller) SYMDISK.SYS (harddisk, zipdrive, MagnetoOptical drives, etc) ASPICD.SYS (cdrom-like devices)
Question (and we'll just have to wait for that to see) is which types the ASPI driver covers:
*IDE/SerialATA
*SCSI
*PCMCIA
*LPT
*USB
*FireWire
ASPI would allow writing to the device, like cd recording using CDRECORD.EXE for example (CDRTOOLS 2.01 package, also includes MKISOFS)
For the record, I was searching for a PCI-X controller with also 50pin connector (for legacy devices), put it's pretty expensive and also has no DOS drivers (Adaptec 29320A-R). Oh well..
