That is correct. The --portname parameter sets the name of the sequencer port. To control which device to use for an alsa_raw driver, you need to specify the "midi.alsa.device" setting. E.g. fluidsynth .. -m alsa_raw -O "midi.alsa.device=hw:1,0,0" ...
