You need FG 1.9.1 to do that. This is not available in 1.0.0

BTW: why not upgrading ?

Thanks for all your help Brett, Fred and George.

I tried FG 1.9 when it was first available.  Had issues (like no livery) on
the aircraft with it, which ended up fouling up a lot of things.  After a
lot of time I ended up uninstalling 1.9 and reinstalling 1.0 - a process I
did not find either enjoyable or stimulating.

So, I guess it's back to my original question - with FG 1.0 is it possible
to add a location as an airport, and if so, how?
