Hi All,
I'm looking for recommendations for a new joystick for FG. I've previously had
two Logitech Wingman Force 3D joysticks, which after a year or so begin to
deteriorate. The symptoms are that the joystick doesn't stay centered properly,
making it almost impossible to trim the aircraft hands-off. This time I'd like
something that will last a bit longer.
I don't need force-feedback (FG doesn't support it), and I don't need a twist
rudder function on the stick (I have a pair of pedals).
In the past I've been tempted by the CH products yoke, but I can't really
justify the space on my desk.
So, what would people suggest, and what would they avoid?
On a side-note, I'm planning to take apart my existing joystick and turn it
into a set of switches for FG. My plan is to remove the electronic components
from the joystick body and replace the existing push buttons with push-to-make
toggle switches. I'm familiar with the FG joystick code, so I'm confident I can
write an appropriate XML config file for the purpose. Anyone done something
similar in the past?
