It looks like you used the 10.5 installer on 10.6.  I guess it wasn't
set up to prevent that.

I'd say just skip to step 2 of "Upgrade Instructions for Mac OS X 10.7".
 I'm not sure why that document says that fink needs to be at 0.31.0 or
later to capture the list of installed packages.
