Thank you for the massive assistance you provide as evidenced by the
extensive Fink-beginners email traffic.
I have two MacBooks, Silver and Black, both running Mac OS X 10.6.8.
Hoping to migrate, firstly, the Black one to 10.7.4, I started with
"Upgrade Instructions for Mac OS X 10.7" but find that both my
machines are stuck with out of date Finks, Silver with 0.27.16 and
Black with 0.28.5.
Referring to "F.A.Q. - 4. Upgrading Fink (version-specific
troubleshooting)", I have run the sequence
fink selfupdate
fink selfupdate-rsync
fink index -f
fink selfupdate
on both machines without any change to the Fink version number.
The error/failure messages I typically get on both machines are shown
in the following sequence from Silver:
