I'm using a slightly older conky, 1.9.0, which was working well with
e16 1.0.14. I'll try upgrading conky. My old .conkyrc may need an
update or something too.

Fair enough, I was just showing xsnow to my kids. It still works well
as an xscreensaver hack at Christmas time. It is an ancient program. :-)
