I have enlightenment 0.18.8-1 deb nicely built by John Holland and it starts
each time with
Compositor Warning: your display driver does not support opengl or no opengl
engines were compiled in or installed for Evas or Ecore-Evas. Failing back
to software engine.
Is there a way to find out if it's missing from the build, or if E is not
able to get opengl from my driver?
chrome://gpu/ says:

One thing I noticed and is quite annoying is the e17 bottom bar with time,
power off
buton and so forth flashes like mad if I have a window too close to it, or
overlayed on top.
Thanks,
Marc
