yeah, I'm aware that git is going to be more unstable. But I've been using
E17 for over 5 years and it hasn't feel this unstable for a long time. I
guess it's because of merging composite deep within E, because when I try
to get into the composite option E crashes

As for the icons, I have oxygen theme installed, selected in KDE options,
Gnome Options and E options (preferences -> apearance -> applications theme
-> incons). The problem is not with the icones, but with the .desktop
files. I can only see the .desktop files that are un
~/.local/share/applications/ and not all the ones in
/usr/share/applications. This is something that used to work
'out-of-the-box' in older versions I compiled (and I would say in all of
them), so I don't know what changed
