Hrm... well, I *believe* its working "as advertised".  Though I could be 
wrong.

Do you use XScreensaver in any fashion?  And if so... how do you have
DPMS configured in the XScreensaver GUI?  Which do you start *last* your 
xscreensaver or E?  The last one up wins, as each will apply its DPMS 
policy as it comes up.
