Hi all,

I love E. Unfortunately, I'm having a problem that is threatening to
drive me back into the arms of kwin, the KDE default window manager. If
someone here can help, I'll be very grateful. :-)

The problem occurs when I have multiple windows open. Clicking on a
window's entry the taskbar (kicker) doesn't raise the window. The only
way to raise a window is to right-click on its entry in kicker, choose
minimize from the pop-up menu, right-click again, and un-minimize. As
you can imagine, this is a big pain and makes E unusable.

There is a variation on this where I start a new app and the other
windows disappear (even though they show as normal not as "minimized" in
kicker). Again, I have to go through this cumbersome sequence to get
them back.

I think the problem is that KDE and E disagree about the stacking order.
That's just a hunch though. Or maybe it's a difference in interpreting
NetWM. BTW I have checked to make sure none of the windows are set to
"Remember..." their stacking order. Also I have turned on "All new
windows first get the focus" and "Raise windows on focus switch."

You'd think others would have had this problem, but I've searched for
over half an hour on the list archives and the web, and I haven't been
able to find any references. Has anyone else seen this?

Many thanks,
--
