This are all the conf files I have in etc:

/etc/6to4.conf /etc/inetd.conf /etc/
notify.conf /etc/rtadvd.conf /etc/snmpd.conf /
etc/xinetd.conf
/etc/gdb.conf /etc/kern_loader.conf /etc/
ntp.conf /etc/slpsa.conf /etc/ssh_config
/etc/hostconfig /etc/memberd.conf /etc/
pear.conf /etc/smb.conf /etc/sshd_config
/etc/hostconfig~ /etc/named.conf /etc/
resolv.conf /etc/smb.conf.template /etc/syslog.conf

To answer James, I installed the whole jpeg libraries, I used cvs -
z3 -d :pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/cvs/e e17 to
get the libraries. I tried make clean, followed by make install. It
didn't fail on make clean, but it did on make install, in the same way.

gcc -dynamiclib -flat_namespace -undefined suppress -o .libs/libeet.
0 .libs/eet_lib.o .libs/eet_data.o .libs/eet_image.o .libs/
eet_memfile.o -lz -ljpeg -install_name /usr/local/lib/libeet.0 -Wl,-
compatibility_version -Wl,10 -Wl,-current_version -Wl,10.10
/usr/bin/libtool: can't locate file for: -ljpeg
/usr/bin/libtool: file: -ljpeg is not an object file (not allowed in
a library)
make[2]: *** [libeet.la] Error 1
make[1]: *** [install-recursive] Error 1
make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1
