This does raise a point for the get-e.org team though - perhaps all modules hosted at get-e should be distributed with configure files so that users without autotools (or broken ones :-)) can install the software easier (like evolume seems to be). I think the EFL and enlightenment tarballs at enlightenment.freedesktop.org also come with user friendly configure scripts.

Actually - both the macros (AM_ENABLE_SHARED & AM_PROG_LIBTOOL) noted below in your error message are also used in e17's configure.in (e17/apps/e/configure.in) file, and I'm presuming that works fine for you when you ./autogen.sh to make enlightenment... you are building from cvs, right? or rpm's?
