working in and learning more about Enlightenment. No Gnome (or KDE) on that PC. Is that possible ?
You mean the Gnome and KDE desktops? Certainly - I do that myself. Well almost, as I do use the Gnome menu bar for a bunch of launchers. No desktop with icons and so.
I plan to use Slackware 9.1 and just E as Window Manager. Programs/applications I would like to use are the X, OpenOffice suite, Evolution, Blender, Screem, Amaya, the Gimp and Wine to name the most important.
You will then need at least the Gnome and GTK+ libs (for Evolution and Gimp, GTK is after all Gimp ToolKit AFAIK), the others may or may not need GTK+ or QT (widgets of KDE) libs, and other widget libs.
If you are not sure, just let your package manager figure out which you need (the dependencies from rpm packages work fine, I don't know which package system Slackware uses). Or just install those libs, assuming you are not in a low hard disk space situation
Good luck!
Wouter.
