I have heard this one before.Down side is, E only remembers the setting for one of my panels, thus, I have to reset them when I restart X. I leave my box up all the time, so I don't run into this issue that often.
E is not supposed to remember the settings for the two panels. The two panels remember their settings themselves.
Has anybody figured out what is the real problem here?
I always right click on each panel and set the settings. I then tell E to remember them, but
Maybe you should just start your session with:
export WINDOW_MANAGER=enlightenment exec gnome-session
I used to do this, but quit, but I can't recall why. I think it was because I didn't want everything that comes with gnome-session, such as the control of the background. I want E to do this. The E window only has one gnome-panel listed. I tell it to remember, but only one of the three retain those settings on an X restart.
Control of the background doesn't come with gnome-session but with nautilus. Depending on the version you can disable that in the preferences, with --no-desktop, or by using gconf-editor and setting apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop to false.
