I have heard this one before.Down side is, E only remembers the setting for one of my panels, thus, I have to reset them when I restart X. I leave my box up all the time, so I don't run into this issue that often.
E is not supposed to remember the settings for the two panels. The two panels remember their settings themselves.
Has anybody figured out what is the real problem here?
Maybe you should just start your session with:
export WINDOW_MANAGER=enlightenment exec gnome-session
