Patch Set 1: The same mechanism is used than for other options stored on client side, e.g.: - connect automatically - refresh rate - selected domain etc HTML5 Local Storage is used by default. If it is not supported by the given browser, than a fallback to cookies is used. This is supported by all browsers. By default you don't need to enable anything. However, there is a possibility to disable the local storage or cookies.
