The problem with a reserve auction is that many people will not bid on them.
I am one of those people. My reasons are two fold. The first is that I do
not know what the reserve is, I do not want to waste my time bidding on
something that I may not get, even if I am the high bidder. The second
reason is that I feel that the people who put a reserve on something have no
faith in the system. Also I have found that many people place a high reserve
price so that they don't really have to sell it. There is a reason that ebay
charges for reserve auctions now. I have sold many things on ebay and have
never set a reserve and have never been disappointed about how much I got
for something.
